ICECUBES the comic strip. #0300!!

Well, cool ICECUBES fans, here it is! ICECUBES the comic strip #300!! Wow, what an amazing adventure. From it's humble beginnings years ago as an idea to do a strip about an Eskimo, a Penguin, a Polar Bear and a Walrus to several books, conventions and tons of new friends! Thank you all so much for being readers and fans of ICECUBES. It's so much fun to make the strip for you guys to read. Here's to 300 more! :DLeroy Brown

  1. Wowsers nice job on old Popeye =)

    1. Thanx Todd 🙂 Popeye’s always been a favorite. I made a video of the inking of this strip and I’ll post it as soon as I finish editing it. Thx so much for checking in!

  2. Super Congratulations, Leroy! And your strip is better than ever! Keep creatin’ and inspirin’, my friend! (Love yer Popeye, too!)

    1. Cheers Mark! I’m always amazed at your output and aspire to emulating you! Thanks so much for being so supportive! 🙂

Positions.

ICECUBESWhen I’m planning out my strips I try to draw the characters in different poses to see which ones work best. It’s a good idea to try things out before drawing the strip and to experiment. Often times I come up with unusual results and that goes into the strip. The funnier the better! 🙂Be sure to take the poll! This coming week will be the last week. Pencils.

ICECUBES I like how these pencils look. Sometimes the pencils look better than the finished ink job. I hate when that happens! Oh well, you decide.Notice how I always extend the drawing beyond the panel in order to get a balanced feeling. Gestural drawing.

ICECUBES
It’s all in the gesture! That’s where you get the energy and ‘funny’ into your drawings. So I always spend time practicing each drawing on a sketch pad by drawing big circles and blobs for the heads and bodies of my characters. This helps me ‘anchor’ them into place and make them feel real. Be sure to always get a good under-drawing happening before committing to the final. No amount of style can make up for a poorly balanced drawing.
