ICECUBES the comic strip. #0291

Speaking of technology, did you know that you can navigate through all the past ICECUBES comic strips on the website by simply using your arrow keys? Try it! Just tap the back arrow and watch last week's comic pop right up! If you think that's amazing, you're right and it's all in large part thanks to a guy named Philip Hofer, otherwise known as Frumph. testscreen-buttons Back in the day when I decided to put ICECUBES online, I had no idea how to design a website. So I did my best to cobble together a botchy WordPress site. Little by little, through intensive research I finally came across ComicPress. ComicPress was a way to publish comics that could be read online in an intuitive, user friendly way. Setting it up wasn't easy especially since I wanted to customize my page. That's when I reached out to Comicpress's creator Frumph. Lo and behold he didn't hesitate to teach me all kinds of things about php, css and sundry variables that would allow ICECUBES to end up looking the way it does today. Over the months and years Frumph was always there to help with coding. Recently he helped me with a new comics project I am about to launch. So I decided to thank him in this post and point out that he now has a Patreon account where you too can get help with your comic site.

Wow, what an incredible week we have just had! Thanks to an amazing effort from ICECUBES fans who pledged and got the word out, thanks to family and friends who backed us once again and thanks to all the new fans who ordered their very first ICECUBES comic book – just when it seemed “THE i’S HAVE IT!” was not going to get funded, the tide changed and lo and behold: we made it! ICECUBES fans thank you “THE i’S HAVE IT!” will now be printed along with the brand new ICECUBES poster! Everything should be hitting the mail within two weeks as all the pre-production work has already been done. I had faith in this book and went ahead and finished it before going to kickstarter to raise funds. I felt the need to complete the work first so as not to make you wait months before getting your book. I am very happy the excitement of this come-from-behind miracle will still be fresh in everyone’s mind when you get your brand new copy of “THE i’S HAVE IT!” Thank you so much for being great fans and supporting ICECUBES!

Happy Easter!

Easter is my favorite season. The flowers are popping out, the trees are getting green again, all the little critters are about…
ICECUBES the comic strip Easter
Unfortunately, this year it also coincides with tax season, which is a major drag. 🙁 That’s why even though there is a new half-finished ICECUBES strip on my drawing table, begging to be inked, it’s just not going to happen right away. You see, I have only managed to make $103 from ICECUBES so far this year and while you may say that’s still something, it’s really only the result of 2 years of Google ads on the website. As you may have noticed, the ads are now gone and that’s a good thing, they were slowing down the site and often had nothing to do with comics. So, for me to continue to make ICECUBES in a timely manner and be able to pay my taxes as well, I need to find revenue.

One method is a by publishing new book and one is coming real soon, so stay on the lookout! Another method is Patreon. I discovered Patreon through many other artists that use it. It works like this: you decide an amount you are willing to pay as a monthly subscription to ICECUBES, in return you get special bonus rewards reserved for subscribers only. This way you are supporting the strip and becoming part of a special club of subscribers and supporters. You can subscribe for as little as $1 a month and cancel at any time. I hope this works out as a good way to support the strip. In the meantime I wish you a beautiful Easter!

Thank you so much for being an ICECUBES fan! Leroy Brown

Support ICECUBES!

Hello fans, friends and family! As I write this it is very late at night (or early in the morning, however you want to look at it). I was of course busy drawing this weeks strip, but just ran out of time. This week I have had 100 different other things to do and the strip will have to wait. Among the other things I am doing however are some very exciting ICECUBES related news items! First, I am finally releasing the second ICECUBES book! You will be able to pre-order your copy on Kickstarter probably beginning next week, so watch out for that. Second, I have put together a way to make it easier for fans to show their support for ICECUBES. By just going to the new ICECUBES Patreon page, you can become a patron and actively support the strip and get some pretty cool rewards too! So, look out for the new ICECUBES book on Kickstarter coming really soon and go to Patreon to support ICECUBES!patreonlogo Thank you so much for reading ICECUBES! Leroy Brown
