Good Morning Sir: I stumbled across your Leroy Brown/Jim Croce work and was impressed. Great Job. Can you do other animations? I wrote a book several years back that was taken from a record I really enjoyed listening to. I was wondering could you do similar work and what are your cost for a three minute session. Peace
Oh wow, that’s really cool! Of course, I did not do the Jim Croce cartoon. That was done way back in 1973 by a man named John Wilson for the Sonny & Cher Show. To do a 3 min. animation like that today would probably cost thousands of dollars. If you would like to see a cartoon I did, go to this link: https://youtu.be/kv1S9MIhqzE?si=ybNZ9cyfQeaoVMab
As if I didn’t have enough going on, I decided to start a new comicbook project. Actually I started this comic a long time ago but I’ve decided to work on it some more. It’s a bit of a different style although I think it’s going to look great. Here’s a drawing from it. More soon 🙂
Also don’t forget the ICECUBES book that we’re going to start promoting on Kickstarter soon!

Just for fun! 🙂Good practice.Schulz developed a fast stroke that is hard to replicate without lots of practice. For him over time, drawing Peanuts became like writing shorthand.
The best thing to do is to draw all the time, anywhere on anything. Even if it means drawing on a paper bag! Here are some sketches I made on whatever was at hand. It all ended up in a strip that you can read here.
Grace and her Dad did this great drawing of Peckinpaw. Great job! I’ll send thru a drawing as soon as I finish inking today’s strip!

Thanks so much!

Sketches from a recent comic featuring Eggman in the shower. I like to do loose sketches beforehand to work out any potential problems with composition or expressions. You can see the finished comic by clicking here.
I just came across this Newsweek cover yesterday. Anyone who read last week’s ICECUBES the comic strip # 0154 knows that I drew Freeze’s head in a giant icecube. That strip was published last Thursday, March 3. Newsweeks mag. is dated March 7. Make the comparison and the tell me who’s copying who?
Is this a case of fan art run amok?
Writing a comic strip is fun and it can also be challenging. Coming up with new stuff on a constant basis is sometimes tougher than you might think. Charles Shulz said that it was difficult to explain to people that staring out the window in a daze was when he did his hardest work. He also said he had to use every idea that popped into his mind, because of the overwhelming demand of a daily strip.
Ideas occur at any time and rarely are they fully fledged so it’s a good habit to write them down right away. Of course that can happen anywhere and sometimes you don’t have your laptop or even a notepad handy! Here’s proof that I’ll write on anything just to make sure I don’t forget that idea- even if it’s not a great one! 😉
Here’s the finished strip:
I really do have to apologize for not posting new comic strips more regularly. 🙁
I could list a ton of reasons why it’s just not possible yet, but as a reader you-just-want-more-comics; and rightfully so!
Even though it may seem like things are slowing down, in fact we are just getting started! ICECUBES is going to be in a real book! And you are going to be a big part of it. I am going to launch a Kickstarter project to get the first ICECUBES book printed and published and I’ll need your help. By participating and pledging you can make the book come to life! So keep an eye out for ICECUBES The Book on Kickstarter!
In other awesomely great news, ICECUBES has sold over 65 copies of Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 on the Kindle! That’s amazing!! I am so grateful to all my readers and especially to all those who get the Kindle books. Watch for Vol. 3 coming out soon too! I’m also working on getting the books formatted for every other e-book reader like Kobo et al… So stay tuned, there is a lot more coming up. Your patience shall be rewarded! 🙂

I notice the site for your Ice Cubes webcomic. Do you think you can do other comic book work in the future like maybe Sonic the Hedgehog for IDW?

Hi! Sure, I could do work for other comic books if they asked me. Who knows, it could happen! 🙂 Thanks for reading ICECUBES.
