Dear friends, I recently went on a surprise trip to Japan. It has to be said that Japan is the land of comics and cartoons, except they call them manga and anime. Did you know that manga and anime are one of Japan's biggest exports? It's amazing to see all the billboards, signs, TV shows and even subways full of cartoons and cartoon characters. To celebrate our great visit to Japan, I made an ICECUBES strip in Japanese! Accordingly, it is read from right to left and from top to bottom.
Mini contest!
The first person to translate this strip in the comments below will get a free download of ICECUBES vol. 2 in pdf format. Leave the comment right here:
Congrats, you did it! Although it reads right to left, so Freeze first says: “Draw please!” and then Peckinpaw says “It’s difficult!”. Freeze is trying to get Peckinpaw out of his slump and wants him to draw another comic strip. We’ll see if he does… In the meantime you just won a free digital download of ICECUBES Vol. 2!
I need to mention that I also met Hector Cantu who writes the syndicated strip Baldo, Chris Jeffery from Cartridge Comics as well as David Wilborn from Urban Jungle who very graciously introduced himself. I also want to thank everyone who stopped by the table and chatted- it was great to meet you all!
Howdy! Here is the first in a series of podcasts on ‘How To Draw Comics’. I recently taped the making of an entire ICECUBES strip. The parts are divided into 1.Writing 2.Sketching 3.Bluelines 4.Pencils and 5.Inks. Here is part 4, Pencils.
I’m in the process of gearing up for Strip, the Dallas Webcomic Expo next Saturday, Aug. 6. We’ll be sharing a table, which is awesome. So come by and say hello, buy a signed drawing and find out about the new book project. I’ll be on the lookout for you! 🙂

Hello folks,
we’re getting ready for Dallas Webcomics Con, otherwise known as Strip. This should be a lot of fun. We will have a small table and I will be there to meet and greet. I will present my Kickstarter project for ICECUBES the Book! And I will be drawing for those fans who might like a signed ICECUBES drawing!
Also I will be selling some artwork, like this hand painted strip:
Welcome back friends! You surely noticed we were off the air for a short time while we changed web hosts. We are very excited to be with our new host Hostgator. I’m not trying to make an ad for them, but they have been so helpful that I just want to extend my thanks!
Restoring the database meant that we used a backup so the last comic didn’t make the cut, so here it is in all it’s glory. Befittingly, the theme is happiness. Happiness for me is getting ICECUBES back up and running! Hooray!!
Thanks for being patient and as we redesign the site to be even better, I hope you’ll feel the love! 🙂
