From Scraps To Scripts.

Writing a comic strip is fun and it can also be challenging. Coming up with new stuff on a constant basis is sometimes tougher than you might think. Charles Shulz said that it was difficult to explain to people that staring out the window in a daze was when he did his hardest work. He also said he had to use every idea that popped into his mind, because of the overwhelming demand of a daily strip.

Ideas occur at any time and rarely are they fully fledged so it’s a good habit to write them down right away. Of course that can happen anywhere and sometimes you don’t have your laptop or even a notepad handy! Here’s proof that I’ll write on anything just to make sure I don’t forget that idea- even if it’s not a great one! 😉

Leroy,…in all seriousness, please don’t get caught up in colorizing all of your strips because quite frankly,..that example above with just the colors blue and black is beautiful! I love just the blue and black line art. Sometimes it’s the simplicity that works best! Your full color work is great too,….but that ice blue works!!! Just my 2cents.

My next strip will be 2 color as well (counting black as a color). Something about it.

I like how this comic came out too. The funny thing was that I didn’t plan on coloring it like that. I was working on the shadow from the ice-mountain and it just kinda fell into place… I always like to try out stuff- sometimes it works, other times not so good.

I do like the idea of a 2 color comic tho– sounds great!
